The Dutch have always been a trading nation, Pioneers of international trade and explorers of foreign markets. The United East India Company (The VOC) is the oldest publicly listed company in the world. This series of portraits of modern day Dutch merchant traders, living in Shanghai, China, was inspired by the paintings of earlier Dutch traders during the Golden Age.
